Edwards post-debate strategy in South Carolina

The media wants to talk about the bickering.  John Edwards should play the media and turn the tables  - meaning patronize them.  Let's talk about this.

He has been ignored on the issues, so in this case I think it's time for him to be the guy talking about how the other two bicker and about how important civility is in a debate.  He needs to become the candidate who will bring civility back to the race for President - and say it to every last camera and journalist he can find.

His goal going forward needs to (and I can't say this nicely) become a "media whore", especially considering how he is being grossly outspent.

I think his performance tonight was his ticket into the rest of the primaries.

Edwards looked above the bickering.  As long as he can do respectably in South Carolina, he may not be as out as we thought.  And if he can push either Obama or Hillary into third in SC, this race will get a lot more interesting.

Edwards looked out of contention (Todd Smyth - 1/22/2008 3:44:27 PM)
As long as his meeting with Hillary was not about him dropping out, I'm fine with that strategy. Edwards helps Obama in SC and CA if he's in.

Too early to say that (relawson - 1/22/2008 5:09:13 PM)
It is delegates that count.

If Edwards were to get part of this media action, but in a positive manner, he could do much better.  I think he will do better than expected in SC.

Also, since he started the talk about McCain, I think he needs to go further and start attacking McCain's policy positions.  He needs to start acting like the person who can beat McCain, and start fighting with him now.  In short, pander to the media - they want a good fight.  That's what Obama and Clinton are doing, so why not.

Also, McCain needs the attention also so I think he'll go on the attack against Edwards.  If there ever was a time to pick a fight, it is now.  But unlike Clinton and Obama, Edwards needs to pick a fight with a Republican.
