Some Nice Photos of Barack Obama

I just thought I'd share these, courtesy of the Washington Post.

In contrast, check this one out!

Perhaps Bush doesn't have a heart, or perhaps the stress of the job was getting to him?  We'll never know, but what I'm curious about is this:  why does George W. Bush hate America? **major snark** :)

Lowell... (SaveElmer - 1/16/2008 4:14:13 PM)
I know you have personally endorsed Obama which I am sure explains the uptick in positive threads on him bumped to the front page recently. Any chance you might designate someone supporting Hillary and Edwards to post threads positive to them and get them moved there from time to time?

This was a direct response to a post (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:18:04 PM)
on another blog.  It's not going to be a regular feature.

BTW, I promoted Kenton's eloquent post (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:20:30 PM)
the other day about John Edwards.  He's welcome to post more!

thank you, Lowell (Scripple - 1/16/2008 4:32:48 PM)
Like many others who saw the other post, I was upset at how Clinton supporters twist things around.

This is a classy and thoughtful way to respond. Thank you, Lowell.

You're welcome. (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:33:16 PM)

I didn't intend this as a knock... (SaveElmer - 1/16/2008 4:37:41 PM)
It just seems that there are quite a few pro Obama threads promoted to the front page compared to the others...

MyDD has designated members who write pieces on the candidates they support that are featured once a week...

That is what I had in mind...

Well, if someone writes a good diary (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:41:34 PM)
on Clinton or Edwards, I'd certainly consider promoting it.  We're all Democrats, after all.

The real question dogging Obama (TheGreenMiles - 1/16/2008 4:16:21 PM)
He used to go by the nickname Barry. President Barry? Really? I couldn't see someone called Barry upholding the dignity of the office. He has to stop dodging this issue.

If that's the worst of his problems... (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:22:27 PM)
...anyway, I'd rather be named "Barry" than Willard Mitt Romney. :)

How all this mudslinging looks to regular folk (The Grey Havens - 1/16/2008 4:26:49 PM)

Dems need to stay out of the swamp!

Actually, I think I'm just going to post this on the FP ;)

Hand over heart? (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:42:50 PM)
This is interesting.

Modern custom does not require a hand over the heart, said Anne Garside, director of communication for the Maryland Historical Society, home of the original manuscript of the Star-Spangled Banner. "I think the bottom line is that you show respect with your demeanor," she said. "Whether you put your hand over your heart, hold your hat at shoulder level or waist level, is really in this day and age irrelevant."

She pointed out that "the tune of the Star-Spangled Banner was originally a drinking song. If they can put the words to the tune of a rousing drinking song, to quibble over whether you put your hand over your heart is really ridiculous."

Note the instructions (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:48:17 PM)

"Ladies and gentlemen, please stand, kindly remove your caps and to honor America join in the singing of our national anthem."

Hand on heart NOT required, apparently.

No hands over hearts here (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:49:51 PM)

Or here. (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:51:08 PM)

Definitely not here! :) (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:54:05 PM)

What is it with hockey fans anyway? :) (Lowell - 1/16/2008 4:57:19 PM)

Lowell, You Left Off the Caption (soccerdem - 1/16/2008 5:19:50 PM)
On the photo of Bush.  The photo caption read:  "I knew I shouldn't have eaten that damn onion bialy and gefilte fish Ohmert gave me."

Ha! (Lowell - 1/16/2008 5:26:30 PM)
Or was it the sushi in Japan, like his father (remember when he puked at dinner with the Japanese prime minister?). :)

hahaha (Scripple - 1/16/2008 6:28:32 PM)
Good submission for a caption contest -- but after seven years of Bush, I think the USA has the worst indigestion!

It is important to look good. (thegools - 1/16/2008 6:04:54 PM)
(None of our founding father's would have been elected with today's standards.)
