now, this isn't an endorsement from me (teacherken - 1/13/2008 9:35:30 PM)
but Leaves on the Current is a strong Obama supporter, so I have agreed to accompany her tomorrow.  Can someone bring an Obama yardsign for her so she can plant it in our yard (it is her house too!)?

Peace

Oh C'mon Ken, Get On Board (Lee Diamond - 1/13/2008 9:52:24 PM)
Who is more grassroots than TeacherKen?

perhaps you should read my dkos diary today (teacherken - 1/13/2008 11:18:47 PM)
entitled What I don't care about, and what I do - an uncommitted voter blathers

that explains my current thinking

Good news if you support Obama (Lowell - 1/13/2008 10:35:44 PM)
See the Washington Post poll:

Clinton had dominated in national polls from the outset, holding a 30-point advantage as recently as a month ago, but the competitiveness of the first two contests appears to have reverberated among Democrats across the country.

In the new poll, 42 percent of likely Democratic voters support Clinton (N.Y.), and 37 percent back Obama (Ill.). Clinton's support is down 11 percentage points from a month ago, with Obama's up 14. Former senator John Edwards (N.C.) held third position with 11 percent, followed by Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (Ohio) at 2 percent.

Unfortunately, on the Republican side, the strongest general election candidate (McCain) seems to be gaining, while Mitt-mentum is fading...sigh.

How "green" is Obama? (Lowell - 1/14/2008 8:50:06 AM)
See here to find out.  Short answer:  he's very "green," as in pro-environment.  Yet another reason to support him for President.

Take lots of pictures please! (True Blue - 1/14/2008 6:37:10 PM)

A few notes on the event (Lowell - 1/14/2008 10:46:22 PM)
*Over 100 people attended and more than $10,000 raised.

*I heard the word "change" a lot, as well as the phrase "tired of the same old same old."

*I also hear the lines, "Nobody symbolizes change like Barack Obama" and "Obama was right on the war from the beginning."

*Richard Danzig, Secretary of the Navy under Bill Clinton, spoke about Obama's character and how the "lack of experience" charge is "bogus" on several levels.

*Danzig said that Obama's campaign for president demonstrates that he has executive ability, as well as the capacity to inspire people.

*Danzig also pointed out that being president isn't like being a brain surgeon, where you do the same thing over and over again. As president, you're faced with new challenges all the time, so it's your judgement and character that matters, how well you can think in a crisis.

*Danzig said Obama's someone who's figured himself out, who has a clear eyed ability to see other people, to recognize and grasp contradictions, to see the positives and the negatives., to see the problem "in the round," to bring the whole nation together, to avoid demonizing people, to find common ground and build coalitions.  That's what you want in a president.

*Danzig emphasized that Obama represents an exceptional opportunity, that when you have that moment, you need to grasp it.  "Our moment is now, our opportunity is now!"  People respond to Obama's character, not to policy papgers and elaborate programs.
