Now that we've crossed over into a new year, it's time for a quick peek at RaisingKaine's stats for 2007.  This isn't meant to be an in depth analysis of our traffic patterns, just an overview of what happened here last year.

Total Unique Visitors
200,165

This is a fairly big number, but due to the manner in which "unique" visitors is counted the real unique visitor count is somewhat less.  Basically the only way to track uniqueness is by IP address - which can't take into account a unique person visiting the site from different IP addresses.

Where they're coming from
This isn't a unique visitor count, it's a visits count, so the values will be significantly higher than the 200K noted above.  While it's no surprise that the United States accounts for the vast majority of traffic, some of the other countries that show up in the top 10 are interesting.
1. United States    779,395
2. Canada    3,836
3. United Kingdom    3,320
4. Australia    2,043
5. Japan    1,622
6. Germany    1,586
7. France    597
8. Philippines    585
9. Latvia    498
10. India    494

Top 10 Diaries
The tragedy are VT this year accounted for the greatest number of visits for an individual diary - no doubt owing to the great number of people throughout the world who were searching for information about the shooting and the victims.  Outside of that event, the November elections accounted for the most diary visits.  Listed below are the top 10 with links, month of the diary, and visits.
1. Reema Samaha (April)  10,434 Visits
2. Polls Are Open. What Are You Seeing? (November) 3,829 Visits
3. Polls are closed. Let the coverage begin! (November)   3,090 Visits
4. Sen. Webb Statement on FISA Vote (August)    2,775 Visits
5. Lou Dobbs committed to denying Democratic commitment (February)   2,493 Visits
6. Election night, Part II  (November)  2,194 Visits
7. RPV Hits a New Low (September)  2,108 Visits
8. Vanderhye v. Sullivan - Polls Are Open  (April)    1,954 Visits
9. BREAKING: DEMOCRATS WIN THE SENATE   (November)  1,829 Visits
10. Mark Warner "Would Rather be Governor," But.... (September)  1,728 Visits

Overall, a strong year for a partisan state blog.  Congratulations and thanks to all who participated in this community blog and made it what it is.  We look forward to hearing more from all of you, and many new visitors, in 2008.
