Feb. 19: Pollard (D) vs. Sacrificial Lamb (R)

PollardYou know you're the favorite in a race when your #1 campaign issue is reminding people that there's an election. That's precisely the situation in the 99th House District, where Albert Pollard will try and take back his old seat in the Feb. 19 special election. Northern Neck residents had November elections, followed by the December special congressional election, a presidential primary on Feb. 12, then this happening only 7 days later. It's pretty insane.

"I think it's no coincidence that we have both a trend of high voter turnout and a tradition of principled and independent leadership here on the Northern Neck. My campaign will make publicizing the February 19th election date a priority in order to continue this tradition while faced with an unfamiliar election date."

The local GOP, knowing full well what they'd be up against, could not come up with a credible candidate. The only Republican who made the filing deadline is Lee Anne Washington, a divorce lawyer from Lancaster County. Is she an underdog? Well, she has been elected to the White Stone Town Council. But recently someone wrote on my blog who is not only an active Northern Neck Republican, but a lawyer to boot...and even he's never heard of her. I guess this explains the deer-in-the-headlights look on her website.

Washington's Lavendar vs. Albert's Red, White, and Blue (NNecker - 2/12/2008 11:46:24 PM)
The Washington supporters are prolific sign planters.  Nasty letters to the editor are also in their repertoire.   There were dots of lavendar at all of today's polls.  Pretty but cold.  View Albert's website at: http://www.albertpollard.com
