Why Democrats have Jim Webb to thank for the 2008 GOP race being in a big mess right now!

Hello Everyone:

I definitely think that Democrats should be thanking Senator Jim Webb for the 2008 GOP primary race being in such a big mess right now because he took out their 2008 inside front-runner former Senator George Allen in the 2006 Virginia Senate race!
If Jim Webb did not beat George Allen in the 2006 Senate race and if there was no "Macacca moment," then hard-core Neocon ideologue and stooge George Allen would have been the total package Presidential candidate that the Neocon GOP activist base are looking for and he would probably be sailing on to the 2008 GOP nomination right now:

Jim Webb not only ended George Allen's Senate career but he also ended his Presidential campaign as well.

Democrats also have Gen. Wes Clark to thank for this happening because it was Gen. Clark who endorsed Jim Webb BEFORE he won the primary against the Democratic establishment candidate Harris Miller for that race and a lot of Clark supporters also helped out Jim Webb in that race!

George Allen was the candidate who would please foreign policy Neocons, social conservatives, and economic conservatives.  The reason why the 2008 GOP race is in such disarray right now is because they do NOT have a candidate like this who pleases the entire Republican voting block:

1) Rudy Giuliani is pro-choice on abortion.  This, along with his more liberal views on other social issues, has the voting block of GOP social conservatives very upset right now:

2) Mitt Romney's Mormonism is definitely a huge issue to evangelical GOP voters many of whom will absolutely not vote for a Mormon under any circumstances.  The Neocon GOP activist base also does not like his flip-flopping on abortion, illegal immigration, and on other issues that he appeared to change his position on for political convenience:

4) John McCain was never even a serious candidate to begin with and he has virtually no chance of winning the 2008 GOP nomination for many different reasons:

5) Mike Huckabee is not a foreign policy Neocon and he does not like a polarized country.  This is causing the Neocon GOP activist base to attack him on foreign policy no differently than how they would attack a Democrat over foreign policy:

Neocon Glenn Beck summarizes very well what many Republican voters do not see in their current field of "top-tier" Presidential candidates right now that they would have seen in George Allen if he had won his 2006 Senate race and if it was not for his "Macacca moment:"

BECK: "I don't think there is anybody in there -- you know, I talk about it on my program quite a bit, that I would like to take a little piece of each of them. I would like to take a bit of Giuliani, I would like to take a bit of Fred Thompson, a little bit of Mitt Romney, I have said in the past, up until the other day, a bit of Mike Huckabee, and combined them for a conservative candidate.

Where Ronald Reagan had pretty much all of it, these guys don't. They have little pieces. So, I think the only way I can explain it at this point is that people are like, well, I don't know. Maybe not that guy, maybe not that guy..."

Despite the current Republican disarray in their field of Presidential candidates, I NEVER take anything for granted in an important race no matter what the polls or the circumstances look like at any given point in time and I believe in fighting as hard and as smart as I can right to the very end of the race!

I think we owe a lot to Jim Webb.  And George Allen would have looked attractive to the GOP.  I also think he would have been a formidable national candidate -- though that's just pure speculation on my part, unsupported by looking at any polling data that might have existed.  But imagine Mitt Romney without the flip flops, with a looser style, and without the Mormon baggage.  Plus, Allen still looks young and active.
