The Choice of Progressive Virginia

I'm sick and tired of wanting to throw a brick at the TV every time a public figure steps in front of a camera.  I'm not alone.

If it's not a Weak-America Republican spinning the soul-crushing, Constitution-shattering scandal of the day, it's a base-blind, Democrat spinning congressional capitulation.  The whole situation is just nauseating, and America is sick of it.

In fact, this nation is ready for a new America, a break from jingoism, cronyism, corruption, ignorance, hate, failure, greed, war, decline and shame.   74% say we're on the wrong track, 69% say we're heading for recession, and 57% say America itself is in decline. 75% want change in 2008.

Americans are demanding a fresh start.
Meanwhile, the Republicans are flagellating themselves over the pitiful crop of pygmies they have to choose from in 2008.  With Rudy's "Sex on the City" death spiral, the unelectable Mike Huckabee has risen as the not-Mitt, not-Rudy, not-GranpaFred.  The level of GOP desperation is astronomical.  They have no candidate.  They have nothing but fear to run on, because, all of their promises have been exposed as lies.  Not one of them has the charisma, authenticity, or vision to overcome the stigma of running as the R for whom Bush was the warm-up act.

Unlike Republicans who are forced to choose between the lesser of 9 8 weevils, Democrats suffer from an overabundance of quality. Hillary's history and recognition herald potentially America's first female president.  Obama's charisma, intelligence, confidence threaten to overwhelm the forces that divide this country.  Edwards' charm and rural appeal, make him the populist choice most likely to cast the money changers out of the America's temple on Capitol Hill.

The choice is a difficult one made more keen by circumstance.  Because of our great candidates this primary season, Democrats are in the position to rise above base questions like electability.  Dems are free to search for the leader of quality most likely to right the ship of state after the disaster of conservative Republican hegemony, and set a new direction for America and the World in the 21st century.  In short, Democrats can choose the best, most principled leader with confidence.

Moreover, there are indications that the decision could remain open beyond the early primary states, so Virginia's primary could actually influence the final outcome and help determine the nominee.

But who to choose?  Who is the Choice of Progressive Virginia?

Hillary:

Any decision tree begins with Hillary Clinton.  If you're a Clintonite,

In 2008 Democrats, blessed with a surfeit of riches and a chance to make authentic, lasting, historic change, are faced with a profound referendum.  It's as much a test of the Democratic spirit as it is a test of the American soul.  This primary season can have an astonishing effect on the history of America and all of Humanity, and for the first time in a long time, this presidential primary season, the Choice of Progressive Virginia may be very important indeed.
