Bush's Environmental Destruction Agency (EDA) Strikes Again

Why even bother calling the EPA the Environmental PROTECTION Agency under this viciously anti-environment administration?  If there was any doubt prior to this evening that the Bush Administration despises the environment and loves the oil companies, the case is now closed.

The Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday slapped down California's bid for first-in-the-nation greenhouse gas limits on cars, trucks and SUVs, denying a request for a waiver that would have allowed those restrictions to take effect.

[...]

"It is disappointing that the federal government is standing in our way and ignoring the will of tens of millions of people across the nation. We will continue to fight this battle," said Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. "California sued to compel the agency to act on our waiver, and now we will sue to overturn today's decision and allow Californians to protect our environment."

Question for Ah-nuld: is there any way you can legally "terminate" this Administration and its Environmental Destruction Agency (EDA)? Seriously, these people are worse than that T-1000 liquid metal cyborg you fought in Terminator 2.  Please terminate them (in court and/or politically) and protect humanity from the scourge of Bush!

Lest we forget Bush's friends (vote-left - 12/20/2007 2:51:24 AM)

And, Bush himself... (vote-left - 12/20/2007 2:52:58 AM)

My favorite line from the article (legacyofmarshall - 12/20/2007 8:32:59 AM)
"Automakers praised the decision"

Always a good sign...

This will almost certainly be overturned in court (Lowell - 12/20/2007 8:39:35 AM)
The EDA...er, EPA just violated its own clear rules, with absolutely no justification except for the thinnest figleaf to cover their blatant anti-environmental agenda.  Once again, the Bush Administration politicizes EVERYTHING.  I love how Bush and his cronies are even trying to TAKE CREDIT (!!!) for the energy bill that passed Congress over their kicking-and-screaming objections.  The Big Lie lives on.

The heart of the matter (TheGreenMiles - 12/20/2007 1:54:23 PM)
"Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen L. Johnson yesterday denied California's petition to limit greenhouse gas emissions from cars and trucks, overruling the unanimous recommendation of the agency's legal and technical staffs."
They don't give a crap what the law is.  They'll do whatever they damn well please until a judge forces them to do otherwise.
