Will Anyone Take on Thelma Drake?

I'm starting to wonder if anyone will take on Thelma Drake (R-2nd CD) next year.  This morning comes news that one promising candidate, Norfolk Sheriff Robert McCabe, "has decided not to challenge Thelma Drake in the race for a 2nd Congressional District seat, saying he and his wife did not want to disrupt the lives of their children by moving them to Washington."

Who does that leave?  Secretary of Finance Jody Wagner and...???  A relatively unknown young Democrat named Glenn Nye?  Anybody else?  Nobody?  Let's just hope that the latter option (nobody) is NOT the answer.  Thelma Drake needs to go.

Thelma Drake has gone. (spotter - 12/18/2007 8:35:11 AM)
To sleep, that is.  Anybody who can stay awake all day without an extended nap would be a vast improvement over Thelma.  Thelma could be replaced by any parrot of average intelligence, squawking "Bush is right!"  "Stay the course!" "The only option in Iraq is that we WIN!"

McCabe wasn't really running anyway (Randy Klear - 12/18/2007 10:57:49 AM)
He was being recruited by the governor's brain trust, just because he's the most popular Democrat in the district.  I can't say I'm surprised by this.

As for Jody Wagner, all the buzz I hear says she's more interested in running for Lieutenant Governor.

Glenn Nye seems like a nice, competent guy, but as a newcomer he's looking at a pretty steep uphill climb.

Henry Light lives in the 2nd, and could certainly put together the money and backing for a real race.  He may be a bit too liberal for the district as a whole, but he'd make a fight of it.

Hmmmm....Henry Light (Lowell - 12/18/2007 11:06:42 AM)
Interesting thought.  Thanks for reminding me! :)
