Dan Smolen at Fred2Blue just received word that Pres. Bush is coming to the Stafford Co. to talk about economics. He'll be addressing the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Stafford Rotary Club at the Holiday Inn in Falmouth. Of course it's not open to the public. Here's what Dan would like the President to address while he's here, but no one's holding their breath:
While our unemployment rate is below 2 percent, economic conditions, even in this, the 13th wealthiest community in the United States, are not so great. Each year, the average Stafford resident takes home less, and borrows more on credit cards.

Healthcare is a big reason.  Take prescription medicine co-pays; around here they have gone up 50 PERCENT OR MORE. And that's just in the past year.

And for your information, sir, Stafford County is experiencing historic levels of home foreclosure. Those million dollar no-money-down home loans you loved so much?  Well, the chickens have come home to roost.

Don't forget Forgit won Fredricksburg. (mikuleck - 12/14/2007 2:45:27 AM)
Seems like some folk there don't agree with the shrub.

The problem is everything around Fredericksburg (Chris Guy - 12/14/2007 3:14:06 AM)
several of our local candidates did very well last month, but a lot of them are afraid to run as Democrats and run as Indpeendents instead. It works out good for them, bad not for the party. Albert Pollard was the only actual Democrat on the ballot in King George in any race this year.

Prez Bush's Address (soccerdem - 12/14/2007 9:24:29 AM)
Pres Bush coming to Stafford to talk about economics?  The last such informed speech I recall reading about, similar in probity to ANY Bush address, was the 1936 speech by Joseph Goebbels in a synagogue in Berlin, in which he told the audience how Germany would ensure the health, safety and occupational freedom of the Jews during the German Millenium of Power.  He then shared bagels, lox and gemutlichkeit with his listeners.

About as believable as Bush on economics?  No wonder the audience is Invited Only.
