How ironic from the "Christian" president.  A million Christians in the country are dead, or have fled.  Under Saddam, they were pretty much left alone, according to this CBS report.

But, after the invasion, Muslim militants launched a war on each other and the cross. ** There seems to be less violence now in part because of the surge of U.S. forces but also because the purge of Christians from Dora is largely complete. ** One of the reasons these churches have been abandoned is in this letter, a letter that went out to the neighborhoods of Dora about a year ago. It reads like this: 'To the Christian, we would like to inform you of the decision of the legal court of the Secret Islamic Army to notify you that this is the last and final threat. If you do not leave your home, your blood will be spilled.' ***

I wonder what the religious right thinks about this.  Assuming it thinks at all.

This is another report of ethnic cleansing in Iraq (Hugo Estrada - 12/4/2007 10:58:56 AM)
Which some are attributing part of the "success" of the surge: the religious and ethnic cleansing in certain parts of Iraq has been so thorough that conflict ceases to exist because a former party of it is gone.

This is a very sad story.

Yes, very sad story (PM - 12/4/2007 11:05:33 AM)
I understand many communities are physically separated now -- by walls and fences.
