Cooch Declared the Winner; Janet to File Tuesday for Recount

Anita Kumar reports in the Washington Post:

Virginia election officials today officially certified Sen. Ken Cuccinelli II (R-Fairfax) as the winner in the race to represent the 37th District of Fairfax County.

His Democratic opponent, Janet S. Oleszek, plans to file a lawsuit in Fairfax County Circuit Court tomorrow asking for a recount of the more than 37,000 votes cast in the Nov. 6 election. She has 10 days to file the lawsuit.

Obviously, I hope Janet somehow pulls it out, but I'm not holding my breath.  What's frustrating is that Janet could have won this cleanly on election day, but for a variety of reasons (e.g., the corporate media's failure to do its job regarding a possible corruption story regarding Cooch), she didn't.  Maybe Janet should have had a toy pet donkey to counteract Cooch's toy pet elephant "Ron?"

Does she really deserve to win?

Watch her 'debate' one more time, then think about if you personally had to pay for the court costs, legal fees, and recounting electronic votes...

Another D in the Senate is all well and good, but Kens days are numbered anyway- so why not give some one more articulate a shot next time around?
