Sen. Webb Going to Iraq

According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, "U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., will travel to Iraq next week for a firsthand view of the military and political situation."  Hopefully, while there, Webb will crack a few heads and get the Iraqis to jump start their efforts towards political reconciliation.  Joining Webb will be Sen. Jon Tester, another member of the "Class of 2006."  Tester can help Webb crack heads, or at least give some of those Iraq political "leaders" a flat-top haircut! :)  Seriously, though, safe travels to Senators Webb and Tester.

By the way, next time an exchange like this one occurs, Webb can tell Lindsay Graham (or whoever) where to shove it:

Graham: "Have you ever been to Iraq? Have you ever been?"

Webb: "Have you ever been to these ? I've covered two wars as a correspondent."

And YES, I've been to Iraq...as has my son.  Take THAT!

The REAL dynamic duo! (LT - 11/28/2007 6:32:15 PM)
Not surprised and very pleased to see these two joining forces to try and get an honest firsthand view. Though Jon might need Jim help in giving Iraqi "leaders" his flat-top 'do as the great Montanan has only one useful hand (the other is missing 3 fingers from a nasty farming accident).

Hope this is just the FIRST of many collaborations between Jim and Jon. Republicans and corporate lobbyists beware: there's a new populist sheriff in town and his deputy's just as tough!
