Oh my Goodness (legacyofmarshall - 11/13/2007 5:26:22 PM)
Chris Guy,

Could you please please please get over what happened at the convention last Saturday?  If Democrats had been bitter about Jim Webb's victory July 2006, even for a month or two, you think he could have won in November?  We have less than one month to back a candidate who all the observers say has no chance of winning.  I for one say he can win.  Not that he will, but he can, and he can only with the support of all of us.  This sort of indirect bashing of a candidate that A MAJORITY OF DEMOCRATS IN THE 1ST CD VOTED FOR AS THEIR NOMINEE is saddening and, in my opinion, does not belong anywhere on RK.

Fellow RK members,

I urge all of you to reject Chris Guy's hatred of Phil Forgit due to his use of regional tactics at the nominating convention.  I plead that we all, especially those of us in the 1st district, North or South, get together and work 10 times harder than the Republicans to pick up a seat in Congress from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Excuse me sir (Chris Guy - 11/13/2007 5:29:13 PM)
I have never said one bad thing about Phil Forgit. I'm posting this because I was sent to cover it for RK.

Your comment is COMPLETELY unacceptable, baseless, and foolish.

My deepest apologies (legacyofmarshall - 11/13/2007 5:38:21 PM)
Chris Guy,

I take back everything I said about you insulting Forgit.  I jumped the gun, as I have been out of the country and only tentatively checking this website, I remembered your post covering the convention and linked it in my mind with the very hateful comments made by:  Vadem2008 and bluestafford.

I was so upset by their comments based on Forgit's speech, that I immediately thought posting the speeches was an attack.

Hopefully you can see that what I posted above, while incredibly stupid, was a mistake.  Please don't hold it against me for too long, I just want reconciliation at RK.

Well, then, nevermind! (CADeminVA - 11/13/2007 5:41:36 PM)
I posted while you posted. Sorry! Phil is going to need all hands on deck if he's going to win.

Thank you (Chris Guy - 11/13/2007 5:42:43 PM)
I appreciate you setting the record straight.

Truth Sometimes Hurts (bluestafford - 11/13/2007 7:54:59 PM)
legacyofmarshall is dead wrong.  I stated a fact about the way the vast majority of Northern Delegations felt after the speech and I stand by every word that I said.  Everyone can listen to the speech and make a judgement for themselves.

My comments were by no means meant to be an attack, but rather a defense against a hurtful and divisive speech.

I also merely pointed out that Forgit needed to clarify his Abortion position.  There should be no litmus tests for Democratic candidates, like there are for Republicans.  I can and will strongly support candidates that do not hold identical views to mine.  The only thing I ask from a candidate is that he/she show principle and not change positions to score political points.

I will support Forgit, as I have every other Democrat my entire adult life.  If you think my comments are hateful, you are in for a big surprise when the Republican machine starts rolling!

I look forward to Forgit visiting Northern Delegations this week to make a mends.  We need to come together in order to have a shot at Victory!  This will be the first step.

I was there on Saturday (CADeminVA - 11/13/2007 5:40:04 PM)
Supporting my friend Ted Hontz and it was a great afternoon. Ted asked us to hit the deck running and told us we were there to make friends, not enemies. We're pretty tired here in Stafford County after last week, but all efforts for Phil will be made, you can count on it.

I don't see why you're slamming Chris, though. I haven't seen any indication of anti-Forgit sympathies from him or anyone on this website. We have four weeks to win a seat in Congress, let's all pull together!

No (legacyofmarshall - 11/13/2007 5:43:24 PM)
Everyone who wants to criticize me for my hateful comments has every right.  I feel like a fool in this community.  I'm glad that so many people support Mr. Forgit, and I invite everyone to do what I will do outside of this blog:

-Volunteer for Mr. Forgit from now until the election

and

-Vote for Forgit on 11 December!

Having been in the convention hall as a delegate... (oncerednowblue - 11/13/2007 7:54:52 PM)
...no one need tell me what happened.  Things got said, we voted, the other guy won, then we congratulated our nominee.  Now, let us move forward.

First off, Chris Guy is a terrific blogger and an ever more-terrific Dem.

And now, a point of order:  We have invited Phil Forgit to join us at our Stafford Democratic Committee meeting, rescheduled to this Saturday at 9:30AM in the Stafford County Government Center.  Meeting is open to the public.  Come one and all!

Members of the Forgit for Congress campaign team will be there.  We are eager to learn about the campaign.  And, while we know he has got a crazy schedule ahead, we do hope Phil will be there too.

Despite what's been posted here in RK, we in Stafford want Phil Forgit to be our next congressman.

Glad to Here (bluestafford - 11/13/2007 7:58:48 PM)
I'm glad to here that Forgit will be attending the Stafford Democratic Committee meeting.  This is an encouraging first step.

It is not assured... (oncerednowblue - 11/13/2007 9:02:02 PM)
that Phil Forgit will be there.  Members of his campaign staff will be there.

Thanks for posting these, Chris. (Lowell - 11/13/2007 8:07:07 PM)
You're doing a great job, keep it up! :)

Hey (Newport News Dem - 11/13/2007 11:59:34 PM)
What about those great nominating speeches!!! :)
