The following is a letter from Carlos Del Toro thanking RK for all of it's support in the recent months.
Dearest RK Community,

I write to you today with much respect and appreciation for all the support you have given me and my family during this hard-fought campaign. Obviously, it is with much regret that I have lost this election.

I chose to enter this race because Stafford is my home and I have grown increasingly concerned with both the quality of leadership provided by our incumbent elected officials as well as the "tone" of politics that seems to permeate this community and our beloved Virginia. Campaigning in a district against the toughest of odds, I gave it all that I could. Many of you came to my assistance in a manner truly to be admired. For that, I will always be thankful.

I want you to know that my staff and my volunteers fought this battle bravely and admirably. We simply did the best we could, given the circumstances. We raised the needed resources thanks to our many supporters who gave so generously. We knocked on thousands of doors throughout the entire campaign. I myself knocked on over 9,000 doors and spoke to thousands of constituents. I don't doubt that mistakes were perhaps made. There are always things that can be done better under the best of circumstances, but I alone accept full responsibility for those mistakes. We will learn from them and move on.

Despite our loss, we touched the hearts and minds of many constituents who might otherwise have gone without a voice in this election. We raised important issues before our community that for too long have gone unnoticed. Our efforts played a small part in a tremendous victory for Virginians statewide this election year, as others throughout the state achieved victory in more favorable districts. I sincerely thank you for your efforts.

As for me, I will continue to be active in my community and state. This country is made great by those who chose to contribute to it through service in both the private and public sector.  Most importantly, we have been blessed by the many friends we have made along the journey. For that Betty and I thank you the most!

Sincerely,

Carlos.
