"If We Can Do it in Virginia, We Can Do it in America"

By all accounts, Gov. Mark Warner held a super-successful event for his national leadership PAC, Forward Together, last night in Tysons Corner.  A cool $2.5 million was raised, topping the $2.1 million that President Bush raised earlier this year for Jerry Kilgore.  A sign of things to come?

Warner also had a great line, which could be the rallying cry for his (possible, likely) Presidential campaign in 2007/2008:  "If We Can Do it in Virginia, We Can Do it in America."  This is an excellent slogan, and what makes it even more excellent is that it has the virtue of being true!  There is absolutely no reason why that cannot be the case.  As Tim Kaine said about Mark Warner, but could have just as easily been saying about himself:  "Not one person has every made on penny betting against Mark Warner."  I'm sure not betting against him, that's for sure.  Go Mark!

P.S. Thanks as always to Michael Shear for filling us in on the menu:  California rolls, Southwest fajitas, New York cheesecake, New England clam chowder, New Orleans beignets and southern peach cobbler.  Sounds like Mr. Shear may need a diet pretty soon, if he keeps going to events like these!! :)
