Pollsters Discuss How Immigration Issue Played Out

Several leading pollsters, including Pete Brodnitz (worked for Jim Webb and Tim Kaine)  explain how the immigration issue played out in Virginia.  In sum, they conclude that it didn't work for Republicans and may even have backfired.  They key is for Democrats to "lean into the issue," talk about enforcement and a "comprehensive approach" but don't bash immigrants.  That, apparently, is what works.  As usual, Republicans don't get it.  Big surprise, huh?

Sidebar: Video on Minutemen's Fence Project (PM - 11/8/2007 11:30:20 PM)
http://rawstory.com/...  CNN did a story on Chris Simcox's border fence project -- basically a cow fence to nowhere.  I've read such stories before, and allegations of his financial impropriety (including some stories in the Washington Times).  But there's nothing like pictures to tell a story.

Stories like this will raise skepticism about the wall-building approach.
