"Anybody Else" Gives Albo a Run for His Money

From WashingtonPost.com's Virginia Politics blog:
Several Republican incumbents in the House defeated Democratic challengers or third-party candidates. Del. David B. Albo (R-Fairfax) faced neither but he still only garnered almost 88 percent of the vote.

An extraordinary number - more than 12 percent - of the vote in 42nd District in Fairfax County for write-in candidates. In one precinct it was higher than 37 percent.

Albo said a handful of anti-Republican activists who run the albomustgo Web site stood outside three precincts - Lorton, Lorton Station and Laurel Hill - to convince voters to write in other candidates' names. That doesn't explain the high numbers, one more than 10 percent, in some of the other precincts.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Why didn't anybody run against this loser? If 12% of the people were so frustrated that they'd write in a random name, couldn't a Democrat with the ability to fog a mirror have had a shot at winning?

Albo definitely should have been opposed (Lowell - 11/7/2007 7:44:39 PM)
That was probably the Democrats' #1 mistake this year in Virginia.  The guy was co-author of the hated abuser fees; we should have gone after him big time.

It was ridiculous (afausser - 11/8/2007 10:03:49 AM)
I was at the point where I would have run, were I not in college.

If someone doesn't run in 09 I'm going to be so upset...

Here (kestrel9000 - 11/8/2007 1:36:50 PM)
have some motivation:

Del. David B. Albo (R-Fairfax), who ran unopposed this year, said he's not worried about losing the House in 2009. "We still have an eight-seat majority," he said. "They will never take the majority. Never."

Albo Must Go (Albo Must Go - 11/8/2007 1:42:20 PM)
Is on the case.  More later.

Albo's days are numbered.

As posted elsewhere - Mt. Vernon (totallynext - 11/8/2007 4:08:55 PM)
district had a 25% write in.

Had out flyer for a write in candidate at the polls and the response was a 25% write-in those precincts.

(PS our write in candidate was Greg!)

Two Days After (KathyinBlacksburg - 11/8/2007 4:16:09 PM)
Yesterday (and Tues. night) was sweet.  But today, I am thinking we have a pretty long list of Delegates still needed replacement.  For example:

Carrico, Bob Marshall, May, Albo, Jones, Cosgrove, Griffeth.

How do voters, any voters, actually select these people?

A glimmer of hope (Glant - 11/8/2007 5:29:37 PM)
Driving up I-395 today I passed a car that two bumper stickers on it.  One said "Warner 08", the other said "Werkheiser."
