Chairman of the Board of County Supervisors
They really have made this into a one issue election, hoping that PWC residents don't see the greater picture.

Of course it is. (Pain - 11/5/2007 8:16:36 PM)
It's just like this story that was written in the Manassas Journal Messenger today.

http://www.manassasj...

Apparently, everyone who drinks from the "Fountain of Stewart" thinks that all day laborers are immigrants, and all immigrants are illegal, and therefore, all day laborers are illegal immigrants.

Furthermore, only illegal immigrants live in overcrowded houses so any home with more inhabitants than normal must mean they are all illegal.  Makes perfect sense to me.

Sorry, should have added (Pain - 11/5/2007 8:22:39 PM)
The article is about a local reporter who was accused of hiring illegal immigrants because he hired a couple day laborers.  Hence the "leap" that all day laborers must automatically be illegal immigrants, and anyone hiring them should be investigated.

Now.  When we can get the same zeal towards the large corporations who knowingly [Smithfield] hire illegal immigrants [Smithfield] all the while contributing [Smithfield] to republican candidates, then we'll be getting somewhere.

It can be very trying. I need someone to explain to me why I am no longer living in Alexandria, the city of my birth. Of course all day laborers are illegal immigrants ;)

Stewart could learn a lot from a 12-year-old (Lowell - 11/5/2007 9:44:58 PM)

I think we could all learn a lot from a 12 year old, couldn't we..

We almost bought a house in PW (PM - 11/8/2007 12:10:23 PM)
I'm glad we didn't, and my wife agrees.  The intolerance in the climate is bad for you.  And it would be bad for our kids, too.

Boy, the PW troglodytes don't get it.  I was in Fair Oaks hospital yesterday, in Fairfax, and the excellent, and super friendly professional staff was from the new melting pot.

My grandfather came here 130 years ago for a better life for himself and his family.  He ended up spawning an extended family that has a couple dozen people with advanced degrees, contributing to society.

How did he make his money when he came here?  He built up his savings being a laborer, and shooting pool.  Yep, he was a pool hustler.  Once he made his winnings in the west, he moved back east and bought a hotel and grocery store in a small town.  Had nine kids, all of whom went to college.  That was, and still is, the American dream, and we ought to remind others of this.  I bet many readers here have similar family histories.
