Governor Kaine leads the chargeLed by Governor Kaine and Delegate Brian Moran (and joined by Governor Warner tomorrow) the Virginia Democratic leadership is flooding the zone in Hampton Roads to lend support to a surprisingly strong showing in an area that had become a reliable Republican stronghold during the last decade. But the overwhelmingly positive reaction by constituents when the Governor, Delegate Paula Miller (87th), and Senate (6th) candidate Dr. Ralph Northam joined the canvassing effort by going door to door in Norfolk may be the bellwether for the region.

This was only one of many stops for the Governor in Hampton Roads today. Earlier in the day, he met with voters in Newport News and then joined Senate candidate John Miller (1st) at an education campaign stop. In Virginia Beach  Delegate Brian Moran (who has become a Democratic campaign stalwart in the region) joined him to thank the volunteers who have provided the energy and enthusiasm for the contests in the 21st, 82nd, and 83rd House Districts waged by Democratic candidates Bobby Mathieson, Bob MacIver, and Joe Bouchard. Before the formal introductions and speeches, they all took time to mix with and encourage supporters who are gearing up for the final push.

Later Governor Kaine will speak at the NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. And, tomorrow he is joined by the next junior Senator from Virginia, Governor Mark Warner as they urge on voters at a 5PM rally at the Webb Center on the Old Dominion University campus.

If I can do it... (elevandoski - 11/5/2007 8:03:53 AM)
you can do it! After 2.5 hours walking Bobby's district on Saturday and 4 hours walking Joe's district Sunday, I was one pooped puppy in need of a hot tub and a cold beer.  But it is SOOOOOO worth it, guys!  This is what makes the difference in close races such as the ones we have down here at the Beach.

Thanks Eileen! (Doug in Mount Vernon - 11/5/2007 12:42:42 PM)
After being up until 3 AM last night putting out the last few signs, walking all day Saturday for Barker, and all day yesterday for Oleszek, I know what you mean!

We are counting on you guys down in Hampton Roads to help us pick up a few seats in each chamber!  I sure hope it pans out down there and up here, and the whole state will be better off for it!
