Humane Society Exposes Virginia Puppy Mill Scandal

The Humane Society has just released the results of a long investigation into unlicensed puppy mills in Virginia and the results paint a sorry picture. The article starts here, http://hsus.typepad.... but I recommend the video because it is important to see how dogs are kept in cramped, dirty, miserable conditions. And this issue is timely because of the coming election.
Our governor, who I know is a compassionate person, needs to sit down with key legislators and figure out how to address this widespread animal cruelty. It seems as if there are some good laws on the books that need enforcement.
It also is important to elect legislators who regard animals as worthy of respectful, humane treatment, and who are willing to allocate some money to address this horrible situation. I think we know what that means in our area.
