4 Days to Go and It's All About Turnout

According to an interesting article by Tim Craig and Anita Kumar in this morning's Washington Post, the Virginia General Assembly election "is now shifting to the all-important ground game" and GOTV operations.  According to the article, "officials in both parties say Democrats have controlled the ground game" in recent elections and will likely do so again in this election.

In fact, from what I've seen -- technology, organization, volunteers -- it may be more lopsided than ever.  GMU political science professor Mark Rozell, quoted in the Post article, appears to agree, saying that "Democrats appear to 'be more organized' overall."  In addition to the Democratic coordinated campaign, there are also efforts by labor unions and others.  In the end, according to Gerry Connolly (wow, he's in the Washington Post a lot these days!), "We have a ground operation here that is unmatched...We have never seen anything like this here."

I hope Connolly is right!

I'll be out there (Teddy - 11/2/2007 7:12:39 AM)
all weekend in City of Fairfax, hanging doorknockers reminding Democratic voters to get out and vote. It IS all about turnout, now is not the time to have any other commitments (yesterday I received five, count 'em, five mailouts from Devolites-Davis, all on one day. She must have infinite amounts of money).

Well, TOM has huge amounts of money (Lowell - 11/2/2007 10:01:44 AM)
and, apparently, he's planning to blow it all on a fruitless effort to save his wife before they both go off and make megabucks in the "consulting" world.
