Eric and Annabel Make Fox 5 News

Believe it or not, Fox 5 News has a "fair and balanced" (seriously!) story about Eric Byler, Annabel Park, and their 9500 Liberty project on immigration.  Good work, guys!  Check it out here, and check out their YouTube channel here.

P.S.  Apparently, Eric and Annabel will be on ABC 7  and News Channel 8 this evening.  Also, see the Potomac News story, "Video explores immigration debate."

P.P.S. I just noticed that Corey Stewart attacked them:

"Well, they are very slanted," he said by telephone. "When I asked them what it was about, they told me they were trying to be objective about it. My only criticism is that I don't feel they have done that."

"They only show the reaction of the community. They don't explain why it is people are concerned" about illegal immigration, Stewart added. "They don't show overcrowding of homes, hospital emergency rooms, [that] up to one third of gang members [in the Northern Virginia region] are illegal aliens and that one-fifth of the jail's population are illegal immigrants."

Stewart said he was always open to talking with them and said he thought the project was interesting, but that the filmmakers aren't as objective as they made themselves out to be.

Typical Corey Stewart -- attack, attack, attack. Is that all this guy knows how to do?  In contrast, Sharon Pandak says:

I think it's an interesting project... It certainly indicates that the media has a new and different role than what we've experienced in the past in Prince William County.

Pandak is correct, these videos have presented both sides of the immigration debate in a professional and highly skillful manner.  Annabel and Eric should be praised, not attacked by the likes of Corey Stewart.

Poor, Petulant Corey (Teddy - 11/2/2007 7:04:18 AM)
Stewart, taking away his strawman key re-election issue--- and here he thought FOX was reliably spelled GOP every time! Take a good look at Corey's expression in an unguarded moment, as shown on the videos. Sorry to say, his expression reminds me of that of a surly, petulant teenager in a whiney mood.

What I see is (Lowell - 11/2/2007 7:53:27 AM)
"the lights are on but nobody's home."  Does this guy have an IQ above a rotting eggplant?  I doubt it.  Maybe a NASTY rotting eggplant...ha.

Corey Stewart (Pain - 11/2/2007 7:47:18 AM)
He's a one trick pony with this illegal immigration thing.  Not to mention, rumor in the county has it he's also a hopeless drunk who often attends BOS meetings reeking of booze.  I guess that's just from his 2-martini power dinner as he works through those late hours at the office. /rolls eyes.  The other members of the board constantly have to correct him as he spits out false statements.  All he's got is his BVBL/HSM xenophobe base licking his boots.

"Rumor ... has it" that he often shows up "reeking of booze" ?? (Tom Counts - 11/2/2007 9:00:16 AM)
Who "in the county" is propogating that rumor (other than you)? I agree with just about everything else said about Corey (although some of the rhetoric seems a bit over the top, but not claimed to be literal). But to quote such an unfounded rumor with no factual basis is beyond the pale.

I've attended numerous BOCS meetings and not once have I ever observed anything from Corey that indicated he was inebriated. I've been literally "in his face" talking to him several times and the only thing he has ever "reeked" of is the littany of intentionsally false statements, ignorance, unethical divisiveness, etc., that Eric and Annabel have so objectively and professionally documented.

Direct questions for you: Who "in the county" is your source of this "information" ? Maybe a better question is "who are you ?". I'd really appreciate it if you'd at least identify yourself, but preferably both yourself and your rumor source(s).

Just in case you aren't able to determine who I am from this post I'll identify myself. I am Tom Counts and I am a PWC resident (Gainesville)campaigning hard for all Dem. candidates. How about you ? Are you a PWC resident ?

It's exactly what I said (Pain - 11/2/2007 9:22:39 AM)
A rumor, told me by someone I trust, who has cause to attend meetings for professional reasons. I live in Manassas City.  If you take acception to my post, which is your right, fine.  I have no direct proof of it personally but don't doubt the source, who I will not name.  If it were something more than rumor then I would.

Whatever Stewart's deal is, one thing (Lowell - 11/2/2007 9:48:23 AM)
is for sure: the guy's got a major anger issue.  Oh, and he also is dumber than a rock.  Maybe Corey Stewart is Prince William's version of George W. Bush?

Pain, thanks for the fast reply. Just one more comment ... (Tom Counts - 11/2/2007 10:22:36 AM)
I appreciate your fast reply. I also completely understand and respect the fact that you don't want to reveal either your name or the name of the source of the rumor. As you say, that's all it is - just a rumor.

Now for my comment about your source, and I apologize in advance of your reading my comment if I offend you and/or your source:

I'm just puzzled about(no reply requested) what it is that you trust about your source, strictly in the context of this one subject. If it means that you trust your source to tell you something he/or she (not you)knows is false I guess the real question is his/her motivation. Just because a person attends BOCS meeting for professional reasons doesn't in itself say anything about that person's trustworthiness.

I'm not sure that it much matters (at least to me) whether you have direct or indirect "proof" of the rumor since you've made it clear by saying you "don't doubt" your source that you believe there is some validity to the rumor.

BTW, since you did say "rumor in the county" I'm guessing that the rumor source is a PWC resident who attends BOCS meeting for business reasons, although whether a person lives in the county isn't particulary relevent, just an observation.

I have to admit that your reply did generate more questions in my mind but like "Kathy in Blacksburg" who from time to time posts some brilliant thoughts on RK, I was born to question.

Thanks again for your fast reply.

This video is excellent (Lowell - 11/2/2007 8:54:48 AM)

"Rev. Nancy McDonald Ladd of Bull Run Unitarian Universalists Church in Manassas, Virginia responds to Greg Letiecq's reading of the Bible in video titled, 'Fighting Illegals and The Gospel: Religion#2.'"

Excellent, indeed (KathyinBlacksburg - 11/2/2007 10:43:50 AM)
Thanks, Lowell.  I agree with everything Rev. Nancy McDonald said in this video.  This clip illustrates a part of why I am a Unitarian-Universalist.  We are also an inclusive faith.  We resepect and learn from other great religions.  However, we reject literalism and theocracy.

To me, Biblical literalism and theocracy are (Lowell - 11/2/2007 11:04:41 AM)
grave threats to our nation.  Everyone's entitled to their personal beliefs, but to espouse those publicly in the context of a particular political platform is extremely dangerous demagoguery of the worst kind.

Ugh, Stewart's a jerk (Craig - 11/2/2007 6:21:54 PM)
Seriously, what an asshole.  Every time I see him on tape he just shouts down anyone who has the temerity to disagree with him, and what's worse is that he can't even point to any positive thing he's done his whole time as chairman.

I know some people in Prince William County who have to deal with this asshat semi-often, and apparently this isn't his media persona either, he's like that all the time.
