During this campaign, Jerry Kilgore attacked Tim Kaine for taking the case of a man on death row while Kaine was in law practice.  Problem is, Mr. Kilgore neglected to mention that Earl Washington, who had been on Virginia?s death row, came within 9 days of being executed even though he was innocent.  Lawyers like Tim Kaine took his case and saved this innocent man's life.  Mr. Kilgore?s attitude? Mr. Washington didn?t deserve a lawyer.

Here's a cartoon that sums up Jerry Kilgore's attitude perfectly (click on image to enlarge):

Robert Hall, Esq.
Hall, Sickels, Frei & Katzenburg

Note: Robert Hall was presented with the Guthrie Award for the many hours he (and others) donated to the cause of Earl Washington, a mentally retarded man who was convicted of and sentenced to die for a murder he did not commit.
