Potts ALMOST Endorses Kaine; TOTALLY Trashes Kilgore

If you haven't read Marc Fisher's interview with Independent Republican candidate Russ Potts in today's Washington Post, I highly recommend it.  Basically, Potts speaks in the past tense, resigned to losing on Tuesday after running an underfinanced campaign.  If nothing else, at least he provided us with the funniest ad of this election cycle, the "We want Potts! We want Potts!" spot.  Also, Potts raised many important issues and spoke truth where it was needed.  For that, I thank him.

Unfortunately for Potts, the clock's pretty much run out at this point.  However, he's not going away quietly into the dark political night, that's for sure.  Check out these blistering comments by Potts about Jerry Kilgore:

*"All of a sudden, Kilgore is Mr. Death Penalty because he has to take your mind off the fact that he has no transportation plan, no education plan. His administration would be dominated by social issues while everything else deteriorates."

*With Jerry Kilgore, you're going to have to crater one of the best higher education systems in the country."

*"No election should be about God, guns, gays, abortion or illegal immigrants. We're all God's children."

*"Jerry Kilgore would be the most horrible governor in my lifetime."

As far as our next governor is concerned, Potts "all but outright endorses Democrat Tim Kaine."  However, Republican that he is, he stops himself just short, saying "I can't do that." Then he launches into yet another series of blistering attacks on Jerry Kilgore.

Anyway, thanks to Russ Potts for the memories, for running, and for his ALMOST endorsement of Tim Kaine.  Oh, and please don't go away, Mr. Potts.  Now more than ever, we need people like you fighting to move your great party, the Republican Party, back to the sensible center where it used to reside!
