Phil Forgit for Congress

Wednesday night First Congressional District candidate Philip Forgit came to the campus of William and Mary to talk to the school's Young Democrats.  About 30 active club members heard him argue his case as to why he should be the Democratic candidate for Congress in the Special Election on December 11th.  I was among the convinced.

Phil Forgit has his heart and mind set on winning the Special Election, and he can.

Amazingly (to me at least), Mr. Forgit is not taking the Democratic nomination for granted.  He is certain that his election is not in over a month, it is in less than 10 days, when Democrats convene in Williamsburg to select a candidate.  For now Mr. Forgit is calling delegates, party chairs, and activists to ensure that we in the First CD pick the best possible candidate.
His argument for candidacy is clear: 53% of the district lives in the Southern section near Williamsburg and Newport News, and he is the only Democratic candidate from that part of the district.  He has experience as a candidate, running a tight race against Melanie Rapp in a strongly Republican district (HOD 96th) in a tough year (2003).  He is a very attractive candidate - having experience in Iraq and as a teacher here in Virginia.  Finally - Mr. Forgit has a strong campaign in place.  As I've already stated, he's working around the clock to gather delegates to support him on November 10th.  He even has a website up - www.forgit2007.com

Fellow Democrats, if you live in the First Congressional District I urge you to begin supporting Phil Forgit by being a delegate at the nominating convention or telling your local party chair that you support him.  If you're not registered to vote here, take the time to come volunteer.  We have little over a month to win this election.  And we can win it!  The DCCC has infinitely greater resources than the NRCC, Republicans have weak morale (which will only be hurt more by our victories next Tuesday), and none of their 10 (give or take) potential candidates are as strong as Phil Forgit.

Let's start winning now.

Did he talk about his positions on the issues? (Lowell - 11/1/2007 5:51:29 AM)
For instance, what is his view of the Iraq War?

Mr. Forgit, if you're reading this, I'd love to interview for RK.  Thanks.

I'd bet he'll be in touch (dsvabeachdems - 11/1/2007 7:39:00 AM)
