More Washington Post Idiocy

Can this editorial page get any stupider?  Yeah, Joan DuBois is great despite her "condescending, confrontational streak."  And John Foust is bad because he favors a tunnel in Tysons Corner, the only way to get serious smart growth in that area, and also supported just about unanimously by the public.  Did I mention that I think the Washington Post editorial page is a bunch of idiots?
Dranesville District: The Republican incumbent, Joan M. DuBois, has a condescending, confrontational streak that does not sit well with some constituents in a northern Fairfax district that includes some of the richest Zip codes in America. Still, she knows her stuff and has taken intelligent, moderate stands in favor of rail to Dulles, funding a center for day laborers in Herndon and affordable housing. She deserves a second term. Her opponent, John W. Foust (D), is an experienced civic activist who narrowly lost to Mrs. DuBois four years ago. He has positioned himself as a proponent of slower growth while insisting on a tunnel through Tysons Corner for the rail line to Dulles, which at this point would jeopardize the project.

Duhhhhhhhhhhhh.

P.S.  This deserves a schoolyard taunt:  bloggers go to college to get more knowledge, the Post goes to Jupiter to get more stupider.  Ha.

I saw Foust.... (BobSmith - 10/20/2007 2:06:02 PM)
You know, I support Foust but I also attended the Herndon Chamber of Commerce debate yesterday morning.  If he was anywhere near as bad in front of the Post editorial board as he was yesterday, I can tell you exactly why they didn't endorse him.  Every time he was asked a question he looked like he'd been stumped.

Joan DuBois has split Herndon with her actions on the day labor site and the fire station, so that's John's biggest chance to move into the void right now.  I've heard many Republicans say they might vote for him.

I saw Foust (changeagent - 10/21/2007 9:58:26 AM)
John may not be the person who has a slick presentation and can spin the facts like Connolly, however, he is great at zeroing in on the issue and is willing to take a stand.  Gerry claims this Board votes as one body.  That is true.  Except for Frey, the marjority of the time, they vote as Gerry wants them to vote.  No wonder we are drowning in traffic congestion.  We have not seen anything yet....wait till the 135,000,000 sq feet of development goes in at  Tysons Corner.  (Today there is about 48,000 sq feet of development.)  But oh, how quickly I forget....people will live, work, and play at Tysons....in our dreams!  John Foust is already asking some tough questions about traffic impact, tunnel vs overhead, and impacts on neighborhoods.  We need a supervisor who is willing to speak up.

A reader informs me that... (Lowell - 10/20/2007 9:48:43 PM)
..."DuBois didn't even know which supervisor district Tysons Corner was in.  There is an article on John Foust's website www.foustforsupervisor.com
entitled Joan doesn't know Fairfax written by the Washington Post where she complained that Cathy Hudgins was hard to get a hold of when it come to issues of Tysons corner then DuBois was corrected and advised that Tysons Corner sits in Providence/Linda Smith's district."

That's okay.... (BobSmith - 10/20/2007 10:20:26 PM)
John Foust didn't know the Town of Herndon maintains its own road network.  I have to say it's a tough call for Dranesville Supervisor this year.  We have a lot of talent in Dranesville and we could have done much better.  You'd think Jay Donahue would have tried his luck in Dranesville rather than tilting at the Tom Rust windmill.

Well should be interesting This is really the only competitive race for supervisor. Though Mike McC has an outside shot at Springfield
