Ralph Smith Doesn't Like Outsiders

I tried to attend a Ralph Smith press conference and was removed. When I told Steve Mabry, Ralph Smith's campaign manager, that I am interested in politics and wanted to learn more about some of the local elections, he said that I need press credentials and that he would call the police on me for trespassing if I didn't leave immediately. When I asked Ralph Smith to intercede he just walked away.
At a forum in Vinton, Ralph Smith asked people to scrutinize his campaign but when I tried, he threw me out like a criminal. As a voter and a student of politics I am tired of typical political secrecy. I believe that government should be open to the public and that includes candidates for office.
Mike Breiner met with me several times and I was able to ask him numerous questions. In fact, he met with me for as long as I needed and answered all of my questions.
I was very disappointed that Ralph Smith was not accessible. His campaign treated me with disrespect and contempt. He acts like a professional politicians.

In his news conference Ralph Smith whined about Mike Breiner's ad that details his record as mayor. But, on the news, right after his whining, he ran a negative ad that was nothing short of a lie. Unlike the Breiner ad, Ralph Smith is just making up whatever he can about Mike Breiner. His ad says something about raising taxes and loose immigration laws.
Everyone needs to pay attention to the Real Ralph Smith. If he gets elected we are all in trouble; even those of us in Northern Virginia.

Ralph Smith ran this commercial during the primary. So far in the general election, Ralph Smith has been comparing himself to Mark Warner and Doug Wilder. You tell me?

Ralph Smith won the recent Republican primary in part because Brandon Bell did not campaign vigorously, plus Smith used negative mailings - calling Bell "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" - and his connections with fundamentalist churches. He will again try to ingratiate himself with the church crowd, and I fully expect that Smith will unleash negative TV ads the last week of the election.
He was a bitter, vindictive, petty man when he was mayor of Roanoke for one term. He hasn't changed. He moved to my county (Botetourt) expecting to run for Lacey Putney's seat in the General Assembly. When Putney did not retire, Smith started biding his time...
Dr. Mike Breiner is running a very good campaign. He just might pull off an upset in a district that was drawn to make it Republican. We can only hope...and work for Breiner.

At my Kiwanis meeting, Ralph compared himself to Mark Warner. Give me a break. Breiner will serve us well.
