Friends, Virginians, citizens of Fairfax:

Today we are proud to receive the endorsement of the Virginia League of Conservation Voters. The League has been a great friend to me since I first ran for Delegate in 2001. With their help, I won as an underdog against an incumbent. This year? Let's do it again.

What does the League represent? It's an amalgamation of environmental groups including Clean Water Action, the Sierra Club, and the Smart Growth Coalition. They selected me based upon my past record (100% environment voting record) and "Virginia 2.0" vision. I am proud to have their support.

I am also proud to claim the support today of the Fairfax County Coalition of Police and Fairfax County Coalition of Deputy Sheriffs. Both of these groups fight crime every day. Like many, they are disgusted with my opponent's reckless demagoguery and consistent misrepresentation of public safety issues. (Have a question? Check www.thestraightrecord.com).

Finally, the Washington Post called me "tough-minded and intelligent." Of course, they have a strict policy against endorsing Democrats who run against RINO's, so that's as much as we could get. For what it's worth, the Post endorsed my Republican opponent in 2001 also -- thank God for the voting public.

We are working like crazy this weekend. There is a lot to do in our office. Please contact us at 703-349-3361 if you have any spare time to help out (either indoors or outside). Also please contact kathy@fairfaxsenator.com for any volunteer help or working the polls on November 6th. And you can still donate at www.fairfaxsenator.com. We will be carrying our positive message of "new leadership" all the way to the finish line.

Let us know how we can represent you better.

Sincerely,

Chap Petersen

Man, I don't get the Post sometimes (Craig - 10/19/2007 8:24:03 PM)
They continually editorialize against por-life dead-enders, then endorse them for office every once in a while just because they weren't enthralled by the dead-ender's opponent.

I mean jesus, if I were Chap I'd be almost tempted to ask: "So, how far-right would my opponent have to be before you endorsed me?"

Craig, it all depends (Scott Surovell - 10/19/2007 10:22:44 PM)
Are you married to Tom Davis?

Well no (Craig - 10/19/2007 11:07:16 PM)
But I was under the impression that JMDD was married to him, not the entire WaPo editorial board.

Speaking of endorsements (Eric - 10/20/2007 2:45:46 PM)
I noticed that a number of JMDD street signs include a "teacher endorsed" sticker.  Not a teachers union or organized group endorsement, just "teacher".  That could mean as few as one (1) teacher.  How's Chap ever going to top that?

;-)

Smile, Laugh, and ask "Which Teacher?" (snolan - 10/21/2007 10:27:55 AM)
Because it is so obvious to all that she is not teacher endorsed.
