The "Other Side" of the Immigration Issue

We've been getting some polite suggestions that we give equal time to pro-immigrant activists, as well as challengers for elected office, like Corey Stewart's challenger on November 6th, Sharon Pandak.  So here's a vid that captures the spirit of the pro-immigrant movement in Virgina.  Pandak coming soon.  One note, Steve Thomas, Dir. of Operations at of Help Save Manassas said that support for immigrant causes goes down when the make big public displays like this, because people realize "it's not in LA, it's not out on the Mall (meaning D.C.), it's here in our backyards" or something to that effect.  I wonder if that's true.  Our vidographer that day, Jeff Man, accidentally caught Thomas in his panning shots that day.  He was there.

Meanwhile, have an interesting debate about the connection between 9/11 and illegal immigration on our 9500Liberty YouTube channel.

Both Sides of This Issue Play Games With the Truth (HisRoc - 10/19/2007 4:36:24 PM)
It is a shame that we can't have an honest dialogue about this issue.  On one side, Anti-Illegal Immigration positions are called Anti-Immigration and the rule of law becomes a police state.  Therefore, people who hold those viewpoints are called zenophobic, racist, and oppressive.  On the other side, illegal immigration is held, without any factual basis, to be the major cause of school and hospital over-crowding, traffic congestion, gang activity, and other violent crime.  Truth is being trampled on both sides.
One particular note of irony in this video:  the segment where Chief Billy Tayac welcomes any and all people to America.  That's pretty much the position that his ancestors took and look where that got them.

Actually, It Occurs To Me... (HisRoc - 10/19/2007 4:49:27 PM)
...that if both sides were totally honest, there wouldn't be a debate in the first place.  Then, the right wing politicians would have to resort to flag-burning, gay marriages, and Teri Schivo to agitate their base in time for election day.  Sad.
