Today, I received the following statement from BlueLatinos, "a national online organization for progressive Latinos."  Check it out (bolding added).

Dear VA-DC BlueLatinos,

On Tuesday, November 8, Virginia voters will elect a new governor: Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine, who knows and understands the importance of Latino communities; or Jerry Kilgore, who has led a negative campaign, trying to divide Virginia voters by inciting fear against immigrants.

The choice is clear. Democratic candidate Tim Kaine understands Latinos; he deserves our support. His experiences as a young Catholic missionary in Honduras helped focus his life and career towards public service. Kaine speaks of Honduras as the place where he learned what it means to put faith to work. His career is a testament to the importance of giving one's life to public service.

The Republican candidate, Jerry Kilgore, stands in sharp contrast. Kilgore has led a negative smear campaign to divide Virginia voters through fear and misinformation. Kilgore is manipulating peoples' fears and anxieties over immigration and other issues to drive a wedge in the electorate. Instead of supporting real solutions to our broken immigration system, Kilgore is siding with the right-wing faction of the Republican Party that calls for mass deportations of immigrants. Make no mistake; Jerry Kilgore is no friend of Latinos.

The choice is clear for progressives: vote for Tim Kaine for Virginia Governor.

If you are a registered voter in Virginia, vote in this important election!

Great letter.  I would just add that Kilgore's running mate, Bill Bolling, has run an ad ("Border") that is blatantly bigoted against Hispanics.  No Virginian should vote for a candidate who runs an ad designed solely to score political points and divide people. On November 8th, reject Jerry Kilgore's "nativism" (as the Washington Post called it) and Bill Bolling?s ?Border? bigotry. Vote Tim Kaine for Governor and Leslie Byrne for Lt. Governor!
