DNC wants in on our swing state action

Here's an email received from the DNC this week.
Our field plan has one key component: you.

We know there are key voters in your neighborhood.  We also know that you're the best person to talk to them.

That's why we need you to sign up to be a Neighborhood Leader.  You'll be one of the first -- an influential advisor who is going to help us roll out the revolutionary field program that's going to put a Democrat back in the White House.

You'll be part of it before anyone else gets a chance to see it -- we're only doing it in a few neighborhoods in Northern Virginia.

By signing up to be a Neighborhood Leader you will have the power to contact 25 voters in your neighborhood for the upcoming elections in Virginia. You'll also be helping us write our field plan for 2008 -- people like you from across the country will be doing the same thing in their own neighborhoods next year, but they won't be doing it until after you tell us about your experience.

Can you sign up today?  Statewide elections in Virginia are just three weeks away.

You and I know that Virginia is changing.  With a competitive Senate race and the presidential election, the 50-State Strategy has put us in a position to win.

But our organizers can't be in every neighborhood or knock on every door -- and even if they could be, they wouldn't be as nearly effective as you.  That's why we've spent so much time developing a powerful tool that you can use to contact the voters in your neighborhood.

Just sign in and you'll get a list of the voters around you (complete with a helpful map), flyers and tips customized for your area, and a simple way to let us know what you learn.

It gives you the power to take control and elect more people who share our Democratic values.

Will you help us compete in your neighborhood?  It's easy and fun.

Your work will have an immediate impact -- local elections are just three weeks away.

But if you think it's too early to get started for 2008, you're wrong.

George Bush was running unopposed for months in 2003 while we were busy selecting our nominee.  Those months that he spent building and preparing had an impact -- we all know how close the election was, and we can all imagine how things would've been different if he didn't have that head start.

That's why we're getting started now -- we can't afford to wait.  We're going to be there on Election Day 2008 no matter how the primary turns out, and we need you to make sure we're ready when we get there.

Can you help give the Democratic Party the edge in your neighborhood?

The Republicans simply can't do something like this -- they just aren't willing to trust ordinary Americans to decide what's best for their neighborhood, their state, or our country.

We trust you, and we need you.

This Program is Awesome (code - 10/18/2007 10:57:13 AM)
But!
A warning to RK readers / would-be canvassers...

This is only being tested in Arlington, and in SD-34 and SD-39 (Barker and Petersen).

So this email was only sent to people living in those areas (and close to them). If you live outside of those areas, you won't be able to participate... for now, anyway.
