Cold hearted Thelma Drake ignores the will of her constituents

She turned her back, quite literally, on the children, and now she is suffering the consequences:

Another survey of a congressional district in a Southern state found that opposing the SCHIP reauthorization "raised doubts" about the GOP incumbent lawmaker, Rep. Thelma Drake (Va.), for 66 percent of voters.

...

Said Drake, "I support the program, but not this bill. I am not changing my vote."

Sounds like somebody who has become completely out of touch with the people who voted her in.  Thelma Drake is now only beholden to the special interests in Washington DC, and a tone deaf ideology most of the American people do not agree with, including in the 2nd district of Virgina.

Quote from Virginian Pilot in VA01 (Silence Dogood - 10/17/2007 11:27:40 AM)
Chuck Davis, widower of Rep. Jo Ann Davis (R-VA01, deceased):

"After watching everything Jo Ann's gone through, I don't know how people who don't have health insurance get through it," he said. (Virginian Pilot, 15 October).

Just a little reminder, Thelma, that you will never be as good a representative on issues that affect real Americans as your late republican colleague, Jo Ann Davis.  Sounds like there's a fairly solid chance that Chuck Davis is going to be a better representative than you, as well.

She just doesn't get it.

Speaking of the 1st District (elevandoski - 10/18/2007 12:05:55 AM)
Rumor is that Dick Black is moving to the 1st to run for JoAnne Davis' seat!?!!!!

You mean Dick "Baby Pesticides" Black, former delegate? (snolan - 10/18/2007 12:50:34 PM)
That would be truely embarrassing.  I'd much rather have Chuck Davis.

Hopefully Bouchard wins (DanG - 10/17/2007 11:27:56 AM)
but if he doesn't, I think we need to draft him to run against Drake.

Following the Bush playbook.. (VA Breeze - 10/17/2007 12:24:58 PM)
as this woman can't seem to think for herself. Her letter to the editor included all the GOP talking points to muddy the issue.

She is the perfect GOP robot. Maybe that is why she rarely appears in public lately?

Just called by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (VA Breeze - 10/17/2007 4:50:55 PM)
Said to call and tell Thelma you support the veto as the SCHIP bill wll expand coverage to people making over $80,000  and will move over one million people from private insurance to goverment coverage.

The U.S. Chamber of commerce is run by a minority of (beachmom - 10/17/2007 5:17:47 PM)
right wing ideologues.  I know of several small business owners who would never talk that way, and in fact, vote Democratic.  Small Businesses are getting KILLED by the current state of healthcare in America.
