Perriello Outraises Goode in Third Quarter

This is absolutely amazing: Democratic newcomer Tom Perriello has outraised Rep. Virgil Goode (R-5th) $117,136-$109,375 in the third quarter of 2007.  Even more impressive is that Perriello did this in just four weeks, starting from zero, while Goode has been at this for years and is an incumbent with all the advantages that brings.

Also impressive is that nearly all ($114,136) of Perriello's money came from individual contributions -- including $55,000 from ActBlue -- while around half ($52,200) of Goode's came from PACs and other committees.  That is quite a contrast, and quite an accomplishment by Tom Perriello.

Wow.

Great News (Evan M - 10/15/2007 7:49:19 PM)
That's great news. It's critical for us to beat Goode in 2008. Ignorance and bigotry have no place in our Congressional delegation.

Perriello kicks ass (jsalt - 10/15/2007 8:33:14 PM)
This is the race to watch.  I know Tom from my work with the progressive faith community.  The netroots community should pay attention to this race early and consider it top tier race.  If anyone can pull this race off, it's Tom.

wow (JD - 10/15/2007 8:39:08 PM)
How refreshing!  My home district, which I believe voted in the highest proportion for Allen last year.  I hope he can be as competitive in votes as he is in the money race.  I agree, I'd love to see some national netroots attention for him.  He should be on Blue Majority.  If we can take it to the Republicans in the 5th, we can do so anywhere in the country.

Not only (lumpkincharm - 10/15/2007 10:14:54 PM)
Not only is Perriello a formidable fundraiser, but he is a thoughtful and intelligent man.  I met with him last week, and I was thoroughly impressed.  Keep it up!

He's got my support (brookeln - 10/17/2007 2:03:32 PM)
Ok, I know this is probably completely inappropriate, but... wow, he's extremely handsome! Anyone know if he is married? ;)
