Kennedy King Dinner

I have just returned from the Kennedy King fifteenth annual dinner in Alexandria.  It was a fabulous event that featured Senator Jim Webb as the keynote speaker.  Senator Webb stated that he feels that both Kennedy and King's vision and values, match those of modern day Democrats.  We believe in civil rights, economic opportunities for all and inclusiveness for our citizens.  He went on to talk about what he has accomplished in these past nine months.  We should all be very proud for the bills that he has sponsored in spite of the resistance from the Republicans. I, for one, am glad that I worked so hard to get him elected as our Senator.

Senator Webb stressed the importance of the upcoming statewide races and encouraged all of us to support our Democratic Candidates.  He has vowed to be there for as many individuals as possible.  He is very supportive of George Barker, Chap Peterson and Janet Oleszek and would love to see all three win State Senate seats.  He also supports all of the Delegate races and others that are going on statewide. He is also looking forward to the day when Mark Warner will be seated next to him in the US Senate.  I'm sure all of us will work to make that happen as we did for Senator Webb.

Congratulations to the Eighth District for such a wonderful positive evening.
