Get This Guy Outta Here!

I was checking out the new website for Tim Kaine's inauguration as Governor (never get tired of saying that!) on January 14, 2006.  It looks great, except for one thing:  what in bloody hell is Bill Bolling doing there?  And why is he allowed to spout off like this on a site that says it is paid for by "Kaine Inaugural 2006?"  Here's what Bolling has to say on Tim Kaine's inaugural site:

On November 8, 2005, Bill Bolling was elected to serve as the 40th Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In an election year that favored Democrats, Bolling received more votes than any other statewide Republican candidate, a testimony to the strength of the campaign he ran and the effectiveness of the message he delivered to the people of Virginia.

What a pathetic joke.  Oh, and I love the way he uses the word "Democrat" as a negative adjective, as is often done by right-wing Republicans who hate the DEMOCRATIC Party (say it Bill, "DEM-O-CRAT-IC"):

In 1995 Bill was elected to the Senate of Virginia. In one of Virginia?s most hotly contested political campaigns, Bolling defeated a twenty year Democrat incumbent and helped the Republican Party obtain parity in the Senate for the first time.

Ack.  Get this guy outta here! Is there some reason Bill "Enron of the Insurance Industry" Bolling  - a guy who opposed the centerpiece of the Warner/Kaine Administration, the historic, bipartisan tax reform package that saved Virginia's fiscal integrity and AAA bond rating - deserves to have a place on the inaugural website of Tim Kaine?  A guy who ran a nasty, below-the-belt campaign tht included a despicable, xenophobic, Latino-bashing, anti-immigrant ad (using night-vision imagery implying that Hispanic immigrants were akin to Al Qaeda or some other dangerous, foreign enemy)?  A guy who the ultra conservative Washington Examiner described as follows, in deciding not to endorse anyone in the Bolling-Byrne race:

This is one of those pick-your-poison choices between ethically-challenged Republican Bill Bolling and personality challenged Democrat Leslie Byrne. Virginians will lose no matter which one wins.

Bolling, a state senator from Hanover who beat Prince William Board Chairman Sean Connaughton in a hard-fought primary, is a former second vice president of The Reciprocal Group, a Richmond-based insurance company that went bankrupt in an Enron-like scheme that sent two top executives to prison for fraud.

Nice.  Anyway, can someone please explain to me what this guy is doing on Tim Kaine's inaugural site?  Is there some law that says he has to be, or is Tim Kaine just being really, really nice?  If not, can we please get Bill "Gutter" Bolling off there ASAP?  I say, let Bill Bolling buy his own website, just like he bought the Lt. Governorship.  Bill Bolling may be "ethically challenged" and an immigrant basher, but he certainly proved during this year's campaign that he's great at one thing - raising wads of money!

Didn't the Republican Governor of Indiana (?) halt all executions so the cases could be reviewed and DNA evidence gathered? Too bad Jerry has such a Bush-type macho swagger, he can't even take a lesson from a fellow Republican. I happen to approve of the death penalty myself, but under stringent safeguards and for only a limited number of crimes, and Jerry's attitude is sickening. Also, just a little pathological.

We'd also like to extend special thanks also to Lt. Governor Tim Kaine, who we understood took an afternoon off from a very busy campaign schedule about two weeks ago to negotiate this huge deal.  It just shows how deeply committed Tim Kaine is to our economy.  He was ready to sacrifice valuable campaign time just to make sure households like ours can look forward to better economic prospects.

Thanks to both Mark Warner and Tim Kaine!
