Tim Kaine Keeping Busy, Working Hard

Tim Kaine is certainly keeping busy (and working hard) these days.  According to this report, "Kaine traveled to three counties" in northern Virginia yesterday, campaigning hard to take back the State Senate (and hopefully House of Delegates) for the Democrats.

Kaine has been touring Northern Virginia to support Democrats for election and re-election and hopes to shift control in the state Senate to Democrats.

In Fauquier County, where Kaine stopped at a winery, it was geothermal energy and his energy plan. Transportation and Interstate-66 construction was the focus as the governor stood near the new interchange to Route 29 in Prince William County. In fast growing Stafford County, the governor focused on land use.

Great work by Tim Kaine, and in just 27 days he will receive his reward -- a General Assembly that he can work with for the good of moving Virginia forward.  After so many years of confrontation and foot dragging in Richmond, that's an exciting (and refreshing) thought.

Meanwhile, Kaine is also planning to announce the date of a special election for the 1st District congressional seat "soon." Kaine realizes that November 6 could be problematic logistically, but also says, "We don't want to leave the constituents unrepresented."  It's a tough decision, but personally I'd give it a bit more time so 1st District voters can mourn the loss of Jo Ann Davis and choose the best person to represent them in Washington, DC.

P.S.  The Daily Press reports that Jo Ann Davis' husband may run for her seat.  According to the Washington Times, "The death of Rep. Jo Ann Davis has left a large field of potential candidates to serve the remainder of her two-year term in the House."  Davis' funeral is this week.
