On Wednesday night there was a momentary gasp when Del. Mark Cole (R-88) stepped to the mic. You'd think that with the Republicans ever-growing love affair with Hollywood actors, Sean Connery had taken Cole's place for the UMW debate. But as you can see from these before and after shots, running against a Democrat as passionate and energentic as Carlos Del Toro can take years off your life. And trying to explain constantly shifting positions on issues ranging from transportation & education spending to the abusive driver fees like he did on Wednesday night can't help.

Last week the Del Toro campaign did a great job of showing you exactly what your donations pay for in terms of on-the-ground canvassing. The bad news for Cole this week? Cmdr. Del Toro (ret.) is about to go on the air via the radio. Here's another rundown of what your donations can accomplish:

--$70 pays for an extra 60-second ad on the area's top country/western station.

--$30 pays for another ad on the area's top classic rock station.

--$25 pays for one more ad on the area's top modern rock station.

--$625 pays for a full day of new ads on all 3 stations.

October baby! Yeaaahhh!
