Congressional Corruption is NOT a Bipartisan Problem

As the Wide Stance case taps its way back into the news, you may hear the media referring to Congressional corruption as a bipartisan problem.  It is not.

Congressional Democrats have one member under investigation, Rep. William Jefferson (who should've resigned long ago). Josh Marshall has a video rundown of the long list of Republicans under investigation.

Media Matters details how media outlets like the conservative-leaning Politico try to make corruption seem like everyone's problemDon't let them get away with it.  If you see an example the media making it seem like Democrats and Republicans are equally responsible for Washington's corruption, post it here!

By the way, I was going to run a caption contest for this photo of Sen. Craig ... but then I remembered this post was about how liberals have higher standards.  (However, that does not mean you're not allowed to giggle quietly to yourself, so feel free.)

What does the photo have to do with this diary? (tx2vadem - 10/5/2007 3:06:10 PM)
The photo implies that Senator Larry Craig is guilty of corruption.  As far as I know, Senator Craig has never been convicted of corruption and is not under investigation for it.  Senator Craig committed a misdemeanor related to public lewdness.

I am all for exposing corrupt officials and unmasking unsubstantiated claims.  But we need to be fair when we do this.  In that vein, a fair and more relevant photo would be of Senator Ted Stevens, Republican, of Alaska.

I would Imagine (Gordie - 10/5/2007 3:39:24 PM)
the photo has to do with putting one's hand into some ones else's business (Toilet Stall).

I continually support Senator Craig for staying in Congress. I just hope it is as good as Macaca and turns Idaho half blue.

My favorite link for GOP criminality is The Grand Old Docket

Any reason Raising Kaine (Teddy - 10/6/2007 4:08:49 PM)
can't keep a side-bar with a running list like The Grand Old Docket? As a public service, I mean. :-)
