Hillary's Cleavage was the Tipping Point

It is turning out to be no contest between one woman against seven
men. Hillary has dominated her male opponents. It may turn out to be a
skunking.

The tipping point for her seems to have been the day she gave a
now-forgotten speech on the floor of the US Senate with her blouse
diving deep in front. She whipped them things out, and it was all over
from then on.

Everyone in the media and on the streets talked only about her. Even
men in sports bars took notice. I know, I was among them when the
MSNBC's Chis Mathews was on, and his guests delivered conflicting
opinions about the meaning of "the cleavage of a politician."
Hillary's cleavage was the talk of the world.

What could her male opponents have said? "I'm opposed to cleavage in
campaigns." "What she did was an affront to the dignity of the United
States Senate and I'm against them." "There is nothing wrong with
cleavage, in their proper place." "I like cleavage as well as the next
man, but, give me a break, do I have to deal with them in a campaign."

To me, that week was the tipping point in this campaign for the
Democratic nomination. The recent polls show it to be so.

I don't think Hillary should be our nominee, nor do I like her as
president. I think that she would be just a little better than George
W. Bush, and that she would be beholden to too many special interests
groups in Washington, DC.

But, I must acknowledge brilliance when I see it.

Keeping Abreast of Hillary's Cleavage (soccerdem - 10/5/2007 6:12:50 PM)
If that 1-9/16" long separation (as measured on my flat panel and accordingly adjusted to the real world), then I'm John Holmes.  That was to cleavage as Bush is to brainpower, as Kucynich is to tall, as Bill Clinton is to celibate.

To call that 6 degrees of separation "cleavage" is like saying you haven't been seeing or getting enough, with due respect.

I suggest that you and all pundits (Chris Matthews, in particular) watch a few episodes of Nip/Tuck--that's cleavage.

I've seen better cleavage when my 278 lb. plumber bends over to take a look at my insinkerator.

I not surprised that someone would take out a ruler (Galenbrux - 10/8/2007 3:22:40 AM)
Yes, indeed. I'm not surprised that you have brought up quantity instead of quality in this matter.

The proper response to you is to say that you have missed the political point entirely.

Has there been a tipping point? (Quizzical - 10/7/2007 2:55:30 PM)
Bob Somerby has written a few posts about how Hillary has been consistently outpointing Giuiliani in polls.  For example, on July 2, Somerby wrote that:

"Indeed, you'd never know it from Russert's remarks, but Clinton is leading Giuliani in a substantial string of recent polls. "We did show, in one poll, her actually beating Rudy Giuliani," Russert condescendingly said. But Clinton is beating Giuliani in many recent polls. She leads Giuliani in the most recent Fox poll, taken on June 26-27. She leads him in the most recent CNN poll, taken on June 22-24. She leads him in the most recent Cook Report poll-the one Russert chose to ignore. She leads him in the most recent Newsweek poll-the one Russert managed to cite. She leads him in the mos recent Gallup poll-and in the most recent poll from Russert's NBC! And she leads him in the most recent Quinnipiac poll, taken on June 5-11. Many of these polls involve close margins. But over the course of the past three weeks, Clinton has beaten Giuliani in one poll after another."

All that polling data can be found here:

I have a hard time understanding what all that polling data means -- but as far as I can tell, there hasn't been a tipping point yet in favor of Hillary --not even after July 20 when that article about her neckline ran in the Style section of the Post.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is the Class of this Group (Galenbrux - 10/8/2007 3:26:28 AM)
Don't get me wrong. I think Hillary is the outstanding candidate in this race for the presidency. She has the best organization, the best advisers, the most money, and the best plan.

Moreover, Her Royal Highness is absolutely regal in stature. No one else can tough her.

My admiration does not mean I am a supporter. I like to contribute to her defeat, as I don't think her presidency will be good for America. For instance, I think that she will continue the war in Iraq, and, if Bush starts a war with Iran, Hillary will continue that one too.
