RK and NLS Make CNN

See here for the CNN article, "Virginia Senate race will be Web battleground."  I particularly like this:

Democrats have two advantages online in Virginia. First, Democratic bloggers are organized and ascendant after two straight wins with Kaine and Webb.

Allen's "macaca" blunder, while important, overshadowed a crucial factor in that race: Democrats ran a grassroots campaign that capitalized on Internet fundraising and a cohesive network of state bloggers and netroots activists. Without YouTube, Webb may not have won. But without bloggers, who lobbied him to run and lined up $40,000 in campaign pledges to nudge him along, Webb may never have entered the race in the first place. That same army is now ready to go to bat for Warner.

The second advantage for Democrats is that Warner, who made his personal fortune in cell phone technology, has made tech efforts and blogger outreach a priority over the last two years.

Good stuff, Mark Warner obviously "gets it," especially with people like Jerome "the blogfather" Armstrong on board.  Do Jim Gilmore or Tom Davis?  We'll see...

Read the rest of that? (DanG - 9/30/2007 4:57:09 PM)
Stoller's idiotic comments still ringing true.  Why is this guy quote-worthy again?

I kind of skimmed over that part... (Lowell - 9/30/2007 4:59:21 PM)
...let's just put it that way. :)

Everything Stoller says makes me ill (DanG - 9/30/2007 5:03:07 PM)
I feel like vomitting when I read something by him.  Extreme party purism.  Feels like Stalinist Russia.

Obviously, he and I do not see eye to eye (Lowell - 9/30/2007 5:08:22 PM)
I'm a moderate progressive pragmatist who believes in a big tent party.  Needless to say, I'm not a big fan of Matt's "Bush Dogs" campaign, his comments about Mark Warner, or his comments about Jim Webb.

Right, but Kirwin's in there, too. (spotter - 9/30/2007 5:30:59 PM)
Eyes on the prize, guys.

purism (Kathy Gerber - 9/30/2007 6:14:53 PM)
I agree with the vomit.  But.  I don't see Stoller/ Schaller as purists by any means.  They're still trying to push the same old elitist Democrat oxymoron.

Much rather watch Zach and his friends...

I agree Virginia Democratic Bloggers are more organized. (Jen Little - 9/30/2007 6:57:05 PM)
And it is nice to think of the e-mails early on about Jim Webb.

And, even though I am on several DPVA committees it was RK who made it a point to tell me Webb was running.  It was a funny day.  When I received the call I then called the DPVA to ask what was going on.  I was asked how I knew, after a little silence on the line... I said I just did, but I was told I shouldn't know yet, and not to tell others.

HAHA!

I am still a "party girl", but that was the moment I realized Blogs are way more than a place for people to merely voice random opinions.  They are a legitimate source of news.

So thank you Lowell, Josh, Dan, Kenton, Rob, and the gang, for keeping us all onto the truth.

I am glad the mass media is providing you the coverage you deserve , and they should!  Mass media should be looking to you on the stories people want to hear about candidates seeking to serve them.

Keep up the good work!

Not just RK ... (Rob - 9/30/2007 7:47:15 PM)
... but the man, Lowell Feld, himself!  Congrats man!

Right On (Tony Mastalski - 9/30/2007 9:44:56 PM)
The blogger edge analysis is right on ... congrats to RK and NLS. They made all the difference in the Webb campaign and it's very satisfying to see Senator Webb honor our election efforts on a daily basis.

Blog On, Dudes!!!

Way to go, Lowell! (Kindler - 9/30/2007 10:19:47 PM)
Glad to see CNN finally catching up with recent history -- and giving credit where it's due!

They also might've mentioned that it was Webb's victory that tipped the Senate to Democratic control, thereby influencing not just Virginia, but the whole country and indeed the world.

The election of Jim Webb taught me that regular folks like us can make a huge difference -- and empowered me to keep on trying to do so.

"rightosphere" (Evan M - 10/1/2007 12:48:58 PM)
I love how our side seems to have won one element of the framing debate. "Blogosphere" means, inherently, progressive/Democratic blogs, and the Republicans have to call themselves the "Rightosphere" to contrast.

We own the "blogosphere" concept with articles like this.

And the "righosphere" term just emphisizes that they're out of the mainstream, it's a short four letters from "rightosphere" to "rightwingosphere."
