At the end of the Wednesday workday, Poe Intermediate School in Annandale was the scene of a huge rally for Tim Kaine.  It was called ?Latinos for Kaine,? but in fact it displayed the diverse face of the new Virginia.  Signs proclaimed not only ?Latinos for Kaine,? but also ?Koreans for Kaine,? ?Muslims for Kaine,? ?African-Americans for Kaine,? ?Chinese for Kaine,? and so on.

Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico and one of the country's leading Hispanics, introduced Tim Kaine in both English and Spanish.  It was clear from the reaction of the multi-cultural crowd (Kaine called it "the new face of Virginia") that Tim and the entire Democratic slate, with its message of inclusion and respect, spoke to the soul of the new Virginia.  The crowd was filled with enthusiastic teenagers who booed heartily at any mention of Jerry Kilgore's cynical exploitation of the immigration issue.  In contrast, they cheered the Democratic message of jobs and education: ?Viva Kaine!? ?Arriba!? ?Vamos a ganar!?
