This is serious stuff. In the face of a threat to nullify Florida delegates, Florida Democrats have reaffirmed their intentions to set January 29, 2008, as their primary date.

Why have Florida Dems done this? Why won't they comply with Democratic National Committee's orders?

According to published statements from Florida Dems, it seems that they do not want Florida to be irrelevant in the process for selecting the nominee of the Democratic Party. If left unchanged, Florida's Democratic primary would come after several other states's primaries and probably after the winner has emerged.

What is really behind the rebellion from the Floridians is another kind of rejection of the bullying of more Washington DC politicians. The suspicion is that the DNC are a bunch of Democrats connected to the inside Washington special interest groups who want to control who becomes the next president of the United States. By controlling the nomination process, they control who can win it. They don't want the process to be open to Democrats in the boon docks. Also, I suspect that among these connected DC insiders are folks loyal to Hillary Clinton.

Well, I say, good for you all, Florida Dems.
