Have you stopped and really looked around Virginia lately? The environment - the air we breathe, the water we drink, the places we call home are all under threat. Virginia needs strong, determined
leaders who will make conservation a priority, so we can preserve Virginia's beauty for generations to come.

Last week 44 Virginia candidates got key conservation endorsements from both parties by the Virginia League of Conservation Voters. You can check out the full list of endorsements at http://www.Conservat...

Protecting Virginia's environment is a big issue among Virginia voters.  A recent state wide poll conducted by VALCV found that over 60% percent support more state involvement in global warming, cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay; and rating a candidate's view on sprawl and growth as key to their vote. The full poll and other great resources like the 2007 candidate scorecard can be found at http://www.Conservat....

Every member of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates is up for election. These are the candidates that will fight to protect the Virginia we love.

Importance (Evan M - 9/24/2007 3:14:17 PM)
I feel that people like Del. Marshall and Del. May should be defeated, regardless of their conservation positions, and here's why:

Legislation to help the environment will actually be on the Agenda in a Democratically controlled Assembly. It won't be in a Republican controlled Assembly.

So basically, people like Bob Marshall and Joe May don't have to actually do anything about conservation other than say the right thing from time to time, because real conservation legislation will never get to the floor in a Republican assembly.

So in the name of the environment (among other things), my support will be with Marty Martinez and Bruce Roemmelt this November.

We need environmentalists in both parties (vamatt - 9/25/2007 10:21:19 AM)
Conservation issues should no longer be treated as an issue for one party.  We have reached a tipping point in which we are all starting to realize that we cannot maintain the status quo on transportation and energy use.

The environemntal community needs allies on both sides, so I am glad that VALCV is reaching out to Republicans who have shown a willingness to work with them on these vital issues.
