Stafford Co. Dems Acting Blue

The Stafford County Democrats are now one of just a handful of committees around the commonwealth with their own fundraising page on ActBlue. The money raised here is going to candidates for the Stafford Co. Board of Supervisors, Jerry Kirven, Bob Woodson, and Harry Crisp, as well as Trish King, running for Clerk of the Court. These races can have a direct impact on House and Senate contests in the area; Pollard, Del Toro, and Clyde Matthews who's taking on Speaker Howell (NOT a popular guy right now). Hey RK folks: Local Stafford Democratic Candidates Need Your Support! (stafford dems - 9/19/2007 9:26:02 AM)
Thanks, Chris, for this terrific post.

Yes, the Stafford County Virginia Democratic Committee is currently employing ActBlue to gather contributions expressly for the campaigns of our Stafford County Clerk of the Court candidate Trish King, and our Stafford County Board of Supervisors candidates Jerry Kirven, Harry Crisp, and Bob Woodson.

All contributions made via this page will go directly to their campaigns!

With so much emphasis on critically important GA races,  local candidates - those running for Supervisory Boards and local constitutional offices - often get little notice.

I'm pleased to say that our recent fundraising efforts for these four local candidates have been good.  BUT...BUT...BUT, more needs to be done to assure that they have at their disposal sufficient monetary resources to get their messages out to Stafford voters, to tip the balance of power on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors, and put a great Dem into the Stafford County Clerk of the Court's office.

Right now, there are only two Democrats on the Stafford BOS.  There is one Independent that often votes with our Dems.  One of the two Democrats, Supervisor Pete Fields, announced his retirement from the Board.  Harry Crisp is running to succeed him.  And consider this: Winning all of our Stafford County Board of Supervisors races this year means flipping that governing body to a 5-2 Democratic Party majority!

Further, the Republican running for re-election as the Stafford County Clerk has held that job for 33 YEARS.  This is a department seriously in need of an overhaul: the clerk's office needs new energy, is woefully behind in adapting computer automation and other best-practices, AND (this is a beaut) criminal case evidence held by this department is often improperly stored - or worse - gets lost. Democrat Trish King can - and will - turn around the Stafford County Clerk of the Court!

The time for change in Stafford County is NOW!

And the best way you and your friends can help achieve change in this, the second fast-growing county in Virginia, is to contribute to the Stafford County Virginia Democratic Committee ActBlue page (see link above in Chris' post).

Please contribute what you are able.  And urge your friends and relatives to do the same.

We appreciate your kind generosity and enthusiastic support.  And we look forward to celebrating with you all - on the evening of Tuesday, November 6th - when we emerge, VICTORIOUS!

Warmest Regards,

Dan Smolen
Chair - Stafford County Virginia Democratic Committee
