Where Republicans Got Their Money

From the campaign finance reports at the State Board of Elections website, here's some interesting information on where a few Republicans have been getting their money.

*Ken Cuccinelli received a whopping check for $75,000 (on 8/17) from the Republican State Leadership Committee.  That's more than 1/3 the total money Cuccinelli raised in July and August.

*Tricia Stall received $5,000 (on 8/15) from the  Republican State Leadership Committee.  Bob McDonnell gave her $1,000, the  Virginia Conservative Campaign Fund gave her $1,000, the Gilmore Patriots Committee gave her $2,000, and "Friends of Dick Black" gave her $500.

*Jay O'Brien got $3,000 from the Virginia Wine Wholesalers Political Action Committee and $3,000 from the  Virginia Beer Wholesalers Association Inc PAC.  Walter Curt of Harrisonburg has given O'Brien $33,000 (!).

*Jeannemarie Devolites Davis received $15,000 from  Information Management Consultants Inc. of McLean.  For more on this company, see here and here.  Note the strong connection to Jeannemarie's husband Tom Davis.

*Sen. Frank W. Wagner (R-Virginia Beach) has been very generous, giving $5,000 to Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, $5,000 to Jay O' Brien, $5,000 to Ken Cuccinelli, $5,000 to Richard Stuart, $3,000 to Chris Stolle, and $2,000 to John Welch.

Weigh the anticipated return on investment. It looks like giving to a reeling Jeannemarie Devolites Davis is of equal value to the combined potential return from local candidates Chris Stolle and John Welch. All politics is local except when the local pickings are slim. From Wagner's position, at least if Jeannemarie Devolites Davis loses, her husband will have some influence for a while.

See Brian Moran's contributions from the payday loan industry, and liberals like me are dumb enough to wonder why payday lending is still legal in Virginia.
