A View from Inside a Campaign

Hello Raising Kaine community.  Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chris and I am Delegate Katherine Waddell's fundraising assistant/intern. I am originally from upstate New York and am currently in my senior year at the University of Richmond.  I first met Delegate Waddell when I interned at the General Assembly for her in the last session.  Although I'm a Democrat, I come from a Republican family and was intrigued to see what it would be like to work with an Independent.  After getting to know her in the General Assembly, I volunteered to help the campaign because I believe our House of Delegates needs more moderate members and I know Katherine will do the right thing when she gets re-elected.

Doing fundraising has been a real eye opener for me.  I'm amazed at how much time candidates have to devote to it, and I imagine in Delegate Waddell's case -- running without a party -- it is even more than average.  It's pretty exciting when you start to see your hard work pay off though.  Today our first television ad starts running in the district, and I've come on Raising Kaine today to introduce myself (I hope to be able to post a few more diaries before the election) and also give the netroots a sneak preview of the commercial.  So here it is below.  If you live in the Richmond area and want to volunteer to help Katherine, please visit our website at katherinewaddell.com. If you live anywhere in Virginia and care about control of the House and Delegates and the course our commonwealth heads down in the next few years we'd be honored to have a contribution so that we can help spread Katherine's positive message about putting people first.
