VW In, AOL Out

From you win some and you lose some file, I guess Virginia's sales job of being hyper-business friendly (at the expense of workers), was not enough to keep AOL from moving to New York City (the land of great worker rights, open-minds, and liberal Democrats).

I still hate the Yankees.

AOL Moving Executives, Headquarters to New York

And the WaPo summary of blog links discussing the story.

VW In AOL Out (Mary I - 9/17/2007 12:12:17 PM)
Only top management is moving to NY. The rationale is once AOL eliminated monthly fees, their dollars had to come from advertising.  The thought was NYC was the hub for that effort.

This Reminds me of Boeing's Move (Matt H - 9/17/2007 12:46:02 PM)
If this is correct, this reminds me of when Boeing moved its brass to Chicago, from Seattle, where the majority of its production workers remained.  This made it easier for top management to reduce its production workers since they no longer were their neighbors, etc., and had to see them in the grocery store lines, parks, or community events.  Watch out AOL employees!
