SWVA Values?

?Southwest Virginia is home to me. It?s a place where I share the values of the people. I was fortunate to get the overwhelming votes as attorney general back home, and that wouldn?t have happened if I?d abandoned the values I grew up with." -Jerry Kilgore

Sorry Mr. Kilgore, but you're wrong. You got SWVA votes last go around because you didn't really have a public record to claim or refute.  Amazingly, you'd never been an elected offical before.  But you had a lot of good ideas, made a lot of great promises, so we gave you a chance.

The bad news, for you, is that now you have a record, and no choice but to stand on it. You have proved you don't share our SWVA values. You failed to do things you promised to our faces in the first campaign. When you had a choice to do what was right, or to save poilitical face, you made the wrong decisions, countless times.

I'm a tired Republican, and like the elephant never forgets, Mr. Kilgore, I haven't forgotten where you have failed us. You can let your fancy PR people tweak it anyway you want, but we aren't dumb here in SWVA, and we don't plan to be silent either. We are spreading the word, from Cumberland Gap to the beach, that SWVA won't sit quietly while you claim we're happy with you.

It is interesting that your rally in Gate City had about 100 ANGRY farmers held "hostage," promised a tobacco buyout presentation that had to be conveniently rescheduled (but they weren't told this until AFTER the rally, about 8:30 p.m.). And, it is interesting that the Gate City band was forced to play by school officials, and one girl who objected went from a 1st chair to a 3rd overnight. Interesting how they support you down there.  With support like that, who needs protesters?!?

Mr. Kilgore, you have not only abandoned SWVA values, you have abandoned SWVA, and now we plan to abandon you.
