The Steering Committee of the DPVA met this evening in Fredericksburg, ran through a number of agenda items and heard a variety of reports.

Major items requiring votes:

1. 2008 Convention site selection - the steering committee voted to recommend the State Central Committee accept the site selection committee's  recommendation of Hampton

2. Per the request of Mark Warner and upon a motion made by the 5th Congressional District - the steering committee voted to recommend to the entire committee the Democratic Party hold a primary to designate the Democratic candidate for the office of U.S. Senate

Other News in brief:

Chairman Cranwell reported on the progress of State Senate and Delegate races and how he hasn't seen poll numbers "since Watergate" like the ones he's seeing now that favor Democrats all across Virginia

Amy Reger, Executive Director, reported on the substantial work being done in targeted areas and on the preparations for the National Convention.  Danae Jones, the new Communications Director, gave a brief bio and did an overview presentation.  Antonia Scatton did a presentation on netroots strategy.
